Salman Rushdie's new book starts off with a murder and is his first novel since Fury, which came out just a few days before 9/11. Can't wait for it to be out in mass paper. I only wish Rushdie would learn more about Christianity before making sweeping negative statements about God.
Will be starting a series soon on the early Christians. One leader, St. Ignatius, pleaded that the Christians do NOT intervene in his martyrdom. I don't think he even prayed to be delivered (or at least I didn't get this impression reading his famous letter to his congregation). Just asked God to use his death to further the kingdom, change hearts, spread the aggressive kindness of Jesus to further parts of the world.
Says a lot about 'self-denial', huh? Ignatious' executors surely though him a clown. I think it's just plain radical.
