Church as Part-Nightclub?
The following 'interactive item' caused no small amount of controversy this past week...I included into a would-be article as an afterthought, took it from one of Leonard Sweet's books (can't recall, I think it was Jesus Drives Me Crazy), but here it is:
"Some people argue that today's new churches will be "part coffee bar, part nightclub, part monastery, part movie theatre, part library, part playground". Does this metaphor appeal to you? What are the benefits of thinking this way? What are the problems?"
Juxtaposing 'church' with 'nightclub' and 'theatre' struck a chord, to say the least. The issue hasn't been completely resolved, but what do you think? Does it strike any of your chords?
