anal-retentive about releasing a document I need to kick-start the RFID project. Told me to talk more to the vendor in order to 'strengthen our position'. Ugh!
. Solution? Gentleness and - dig this -
. Write and communicate every phrase like your future beloved is gonna be privy to the exchange. That's just one of the "7 Deadlies" so let me bang out the other six I jotted down on a piece of paper already split in two by time and neglect.
Gluttony. Combat this with fasting, moderation (duh) and healthy eating. Cornflakes, cereal, water(!), Uncle Toby's, whatever fills you up without bursting you out.
Greed. Now that's an unfamiliar one (smile). Try giving, sharing, buying only what you need (which, most of the time, would mean not buying, eh?)
Lust. I gotta learn to appreciate poems, man. I just don't get 'em! One line from a poem pasted at the end of a long narrative to cap it off, sure. But the whole ten yards of Chaucer?! No sirree. Anyway, I think when we learn to appreciate beauty and art more, we tend to indulge in
that, as opposed to sheer carnality. Only a sicko can drink in W.H. Auden, stare and understand a Michelangelo, listen in tears to Tchaikovsky and dream of horny sluts all at the same time.
Pride. This is easy to deal with: Service. It works all the time. Get someone to help people or to focus on doing a job of servitude really well and you've taken a few shots at Mr. EGO. Same goes with...
Sloth. Except I'd add thinking and creativity as antidotes. Attack the lack of motivation and/or boredom and we're close to one less sluggard in town. I've found that when a mind is put to use in different, fresh neuron-stimulating ways, it has the potential to 'take-off'. And if PLAY helps too, why not?
Envy. Listen and learn from those who stir up envy in your heart and not only will you grow your skills and your humility, you'll learn a bit of gratitude, too.
Well, I'm still working on the VB. And my colleague has finally agreed to release a limited version of the document, sigh. I think we should throw-in Impatience and make it 8, no? (grin)
