I Recently Learned...

A word I've never heard used in conversation with me: knackered. It means 'tired', in Brit.

A phrase which I thought sounded almost profound: "the longest ever anything in my life", used to describe my church building which has recently been sold off and torn down.

That JP Morgan signed a US$5 billion IT outsourcing contract with IBM a coupla years back, only to call it quits after 21 months. And that outsourcing can be one of the greatest thing for small organisations since chow kuey teow.

That e-learning (particularly by Web) takes some getting used to; not many people will passionately sit in front of a notebook, read/study online material and input their reflections. Unless there's some serious incentive (or maybe a big fat stick).

That healthy biscuits can be a good hunger-combatant.

That I can be scared for no reason at all. Likewise, I can feel empowered for (almost) no reason at all. Or at least none I can positively identify.

That newly weds are frequently the butt of sex jokes. A response I recommend would be, "Yes! It was awesome! You should try it!"

That MS Outlook 2003 can be a pain in the - forget it.

That not all load-balancing routers suit your network. D-Link, especially, seems to jam up the flight-booking sites.

That wrestling shows nowadays have more on-stage drama than action. Shakespeare would've been inspired.

That theological politics matter very much, even in Malaysia. And there are labels people actively shun.

That new hobbies are very hard to pick-up (I recently cooled in my enthusiasm for chess and online arcade-gaming).

That doing normal, everyday things with joy and dedication can be the toughest thing in the world to sustain on a long-term basis. But if you can find the secret of doing it, why, you could've found God.
