I tried to order Taylor's book twice. First time, the order self-cancelled (mistakenly listed, it seems). Second time, the book got lost in the mail. But now it's here. Erring. Have you ever read something from an acknowledgement (not foreword, not prelude, not prologue, not intro) page like the below?

"If authorship is never original but is always a play that is an interplay, then clear "I" did not write this text. Or at least "I" alone did not write it. Like all works, this "book" (if it is a book) has been (and will continue to be) coauthored by many people and various institutions.

"To name any of these fellow writers is to attempt to bind a fabric that is boundless. One is, however, forever inscribed within and bound to the framework(s) that he or she struggles to subvert. And so we continue to sign and acknowledge - even when such naming no longer rings true.

"If, as some critics argue, the author is an "institution", then institutiosn can, in some sense, "author". Always parasitic, writing presupposes an economy, which it relently interrogates."
